Our Hearing Aid Fitting & Rehabilitation Plan
At Sound Audiology, fitting hearing aids is about much more than simply putting them in your ears. A hearing aid is only as good as the fitting, verification and ongoing support behind it.
Your fitting appointment is designed to make sure your hearing aids are comfortable, safe, programmed specifically for your hearing loss and ready for your everyday life.
Your fitting includes:
- Real Ear Unaided Response (REUR)
- We measure how sound naturally behaves inside your individual ear canal without a hearing aid. Every ear is different, so this gives us important information about your ears.
- Real Ear Aided Response (REAR)
With your hearing aids inserted, we measure the actual sound reaching your eardrum. This allows us to verify and fine-tune the hearing aids against your individual hearing prescription — rather than relying on manufacturer settings alone.
Feedback Management
We check for sound leaking from the ear that could cause whistling or feedback and optimise the hearing aids for a comfortable, stable fit.
Maximum Power Output (MPO)
We check the maximum level of sound your hearing aids can produce to ensure loud sounds remain safe and comfortable.
Insertion, Removal & Care
We’ll show you how to confidently insert and remove your hearing aids, charge or change batteries where applicable, clean them and look after them at home.
Controls & Programs
Your specialist will explain your hearing aid controls, listening programs and any features available to you, so you know exactly how and when to use them.
Bluetooth & Accessories
Where applicable, we’ll pair your hearing aids with your phone, Bluetooth devices and accessories and teach you how to use them.
